Our founder, Brian Mutebi, was one of the only 4 Ugandans named on the 100 Most Influential Young Africans list of 2018.
The 100 Most Influential Young Africans list is an annual prestigious list launched in 2016 featuring young activists, politicians, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, digital influencers, entertainers and athletes across 10 distinct categories who are brazing various trails and promoting positive image of Africa across the globe. Brian was listed in the category of leadership and civil society.
The 2018 list, an initiative of the Africa Youth Awards and Young African Achievers, featured achievers from 26 African countries from 54 African Union recognised states on the continent.
Prince Akpah, founding president of Africa Youth Awards, curators of the list noted that the 2018 list featured a record 90 new entrants and 43 females. Prince Akpah noted that the 2018 honorees were listed for their individual and collective contributions towards positioning the image of Africa as frontrunners in their respective fields.
Brian was named on this prestigious list for his work in establishing the Brian Mutebi Dream Scholarship Fund that gives education scholarships to socially excluded and stigmatized girls: At-risk, survivors of gender-based violence, teenage mums and HIV/AIDS orphans; and being a leading campaigner of girls’ and women’s rights. Brian was also part of the AU-EU Youth Plug-In Initiative that developed the AU-EU Youth Agenda that was adopted by the heads of States and Government in 2017.
Prince Akpah urged other young Africans to emulate the footstep of the listed individuals and join them to make Africa a better and safer place for young dreamers.
