EDOU joins Girls Not Brides Global Partnership
We're delighted to announce that our membership with the Girls Not Brides Global Partnership has been approved. The process that started in May 2016 during the Women Deliver 4th Global Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark was concluded in August with approval of our application. We now join a global family of individuals and organisations working to end child marriages, a good platform to join efforts with the global community to end this degrading and archaic cultural practice.
“We’re delighted and look forward to this wonderful partnership,” said Mr. Brian Mutebi, EDOU’s Founder and Executive Director. “EDOU’s strength is in communication, documentation and advocacy and we hope we can make a contribution in this area.”
Girls Not Brides is a global partnership of over 600 civil society organisations from more than 80 countries committed to ending child marriage and enabling girls to fulfil their potential. Girls Not Brides members bring child marriage to global attention, build an understanding of what it will take to end this harmful practice and call for the laws, policies and programmes that will make a difference in the life of millions of girls. We share the conviction that every girl has the right to lead the life that she chooses and that, by ending child marriage, we can achieve a safer, healthier and more prosperous future for all.
